This weekend was absolutely perfect sweater weather. It was cold, clear & dry. On Saturday I went out and about in my Girly Man sweater, which kept me nice and cozy.
(excuse the wet hair... I haven't used a hair dryer since Jr. High)
And on Sunday I wore my newly finished Lorna's Laces Everyday Cardigan. I used the blue-green buttons, rather than the purple ones, but unfortunately they're a bit too small, and they tend to spontaneously unbutton themselves.
It fits well, but is shorter than I would have liked. I actually haven't blocked it since seaming it (I was impatient to wear it). But when I do block it, I'll futz with the button holes to see if I can get them a bit tighter, and I'll stretch it a bit to see if I can get an extra inch of length out of it.
I'm still ambivilant about the color. It's a lot lighter & brighter than I thought it would be when I bought it. So I was thinking about over dying it with a medium blue color to try to darken it all up again. But I don't know. I like the contrast between the blues and purple, I just don't like the bright green. Oh well. I think I'll wear it for a while and see if it grows on me. It's very warm & fuzzy. As the temperature drops, I'm all about the wool sweaters!!

Look at you in your handknits! Have a sweater that is a bit brighter might be nice in the dreary, gray months ahead.
You look great in both of your sweaters! I've got sweater envy..I've only made one for myself (and it was shortsleeves!).
I think the colors on both of them look perfect- wouldn't change a thing :)
Those look wonderful! I do love sweater weather! :)
I like the EDC colors. I'd keep it.
What pattern is the girly man sweater? I like it!
I have sweater envy! That pink one is partiularly fabulous! That shade of pink is my favorite.
Wow - thanks everyone. Bezzie the pink sweater is the Manly Sweater from SnB, but with that color choice, it needed a name change. ;)
Don't you dare overdye that sweater! It is gorgeous just as it is! It looks great on you and I think the length is just fine too! Well done.
PS, There's a guy here in town who drives around in a manly bright pink Hummvee. I think his plates say "Boy Toy". ;)
Hooray for sweaters! Someday I too will actually finish a sweater with sleeves. Someday.
Ok ok - no overdying the sweater. It's not bad... just not what I was expecting. I've already got plans for my next cardigan, so I don't really want to spend any more time on that one anyway.
Mags - Pink 'boy toy' Humvee??? So many things wrong with that picture!!!
Very pretty sweaters. I have just one question: how are you taking these pictures of yourself? Did you teach Sally to use the camera?
I'm waiting on tenterhooks to see if blocking solves the buttonhole troubles.
"tenterhooks," "blocking," Tee-hee, I make myself laugh!
Oh eryn, don't hold your breath, I need to do some cleaning & vacuuming before I block so I actually have someplace nice to lay it out.... and that could take a while.
Jenn - what makes you think it's not Raul my Latin lover taking these pictures of me?? Oh, yeah....'cause he's not "real" - I forgot. ;) Um, while Sally is the artistic director of all my photoshoots, I take the pictures myself curtesy of the 10 second delay feature on my camera.
Nice job on both sweaters!! I really like your buttons!
I somehow missed this post! Very cute, and I don't think it looks too short. I'm always adding length, and then regretting it.
They both look great! That bright pink is very flattering on you, and the blues on the EDC are great too. Nice fit too... if you can't get it to lengthen by blocking, don't hurt it. It looks great as is!
i like them! they both look like comfy cuddle-up-on-the-couch sweaters that you could wear every day. pretty colors.
