What was I thinking?

Remember these?

Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking. It all seemed like a good idea at the time. But now I realize this project started as a quilt-show impulse purchase and has just snowballed into a project that's just not in any decorating concept I've ever had for my home.

But... I'm itchin' to quilt and trying not to buy anything until my employment situation is well and truly sorted. So here I am....working on a quilt that is just waaaay too funky for me.

I've been thinking of making a quilt for my niece, so I may end up sending this one to her. But I'm not even sure if it's her kind of thing. So... we'll see.

I'm vowing to do a better job of stashing in the future. I'm going to get a clear concept of the kind of quilts I want in my home, and buy accordingly. No more impulse fabric purchases. Hold me to it!

Everybody should make something fun and funky at least once. I really like it! You have grouped the fabrics well in each block. It looks like a little sunshine on a winter day to me.

It's not that funky. I've seen funkier. Funny what we'll do for a craft fix though huh? Ha ha!

I love it! It's fun to change up your style now and then. I would be all over these funky prints at the fabric store.

I think it's really cute and the loud prints are toned down substaintially by the combinations that you chose. Sometimes making do brings nice, fresh results :-)

Thanks everyone. I do actually like the fabrics... it's just that all together it does seem like a bit much. I've only sewn a little bit on it, but it's coming together.

I think it's very cute! But if you REALLY can't imagine keeping it and don't have someone in mind who'd love it, I work with a charity called The Linus Connection (www dot thelinusconnection dot org) that donates quilts and knitted/crocheted blankets to children in crisis and I would be happy to be postage to take it off your hands, because someone would just love to have it, I'm sure.

I was trying to say I'd "pay postage". I don't actually intend to "be postage". Doh.

Hey, if you get a chance, check out the Yellow Brick Road pattern by Atkinson Designs. It's great for funky fabric. If you check out my older blog (I have it linked through my current one I think?), there's a few pictures of two finished quilt tops. I'll see if I can post a picture of another finished quilt top sometime this week.
