Fighting the good fight

My mom, as I've mentioned, is a good woman. She's still writing to my nephew at boot camp a few times a week. He asked her to send him a specific car magazine, so she went to the store and bought it for him. But when she flipped through the magazine she saw several minimally dressed women & deemed them "pornographic." So she went through with a big black sharpie and covered them up. That's my mom. He's training for combat, and will soon know 500 ways to kill a person, but dang if she's going to let him see boobies!

Ha! Ha! I love the labor-intensive approach she took. She could have 1) pretended she couldn't find a copy, 2) just said she wasn't comfortable with it, or 3) just rolled with it, but no -- she took the hard road.

See if you can get your nephew to casually ask her to send him a copy of "Playboy." I'm imagining Mom at the newstand: "I'd like a copy of 'Playboy' and three boxes of black Sharpies, please."

Oh man! If he flat out asked her for a Playboy, I do believe she'd march down to Parris Island herself and give him a reprimand the drill sargents would be proud of!

It's always so embarassing when your aunt chews you out in front of the guys at boot camp.
